[If a sight like that is surprising, Nagito doesn't show it on his face. He steps out of the shadows near the doors to the library and hops off the side of the stairs.] Follow me, I know a good spot to go that will keep us out of this chill. How far along with Dunamis are you?
[He calls on Dunamis to clear a path through the snow. All the supplies he'd gathered will be waiting for him at the spot he'd picked. The spot turns out to be a small culdesac deeper in the otherworlder housing area. He pads over to the pack tucked between two houses and produces a bottle of water and a stone. Just in case he has a first aid kit but he doubts it will be needed.] Are you familiar with how easily water turns from one state into another?
Yes! But you'll only be focusing on turning it to ice or back to liquid today. The stone might be used today. It might not!
[He motions for her to set the bowl down in the cleared area. She'd tried to make flowers? He thinks about that as he circles the spot in a slow methodical manner.]
I think you're approaching Dunamis from the wrong perspective. Flowers are made up of many things, and essentially a form of life. You were a warrior in Thras Challenge.
Angel magic? How does it work? [He's curious about what perceptions he has to work with. Everyone has a view of the world and he had always been good at getting a glimpse of the worlds others keep in their heads. It's what made him so good at manipulating others to follow the strings of his plans.
He hums to himself and stuffs the rock into his pocket. In one smooth movement he sits on the other side of the bowl as light rises from him like smoke from a fire. Faint scales are visible in the pale gold streaming up and a faint barely discernable shape. He pulls the power into himself to temporarily fix his breathing.] The easiest thing to do with Dunamis is work within what we know. I had no frame to work with save What Thras showed me. You need to combine the two - perception and understanding of your own emotions. With me so far?
Well....normal humans can't learn it. You have to go through the angel transformation first.[And those small dark clouds coming over her suggest this is probably not a good thing. But she smiles and tries to concentrate on the topic at hand by watching and concentrating on what Nagito is doing.
And then she opens her mouth but not because of the light.]
Y-your voice...
[Sorry Nagito. She's heard the other part of the conversation. It's just that this is a bit of a shock right now. She's always thought you didn't sound well but didn't want to push.]
Nagito doesn't reply as first, and Raijin his Spyrite materializes in his lap. He runs his fingers through the spirit's soft fur while he considers how to explain it. He could lie, but anyone else could correct that. More importantly, Colette is a friend.
He sighs heavily and opts for the truth.]
Just as your transformation is killing you. So is my luck killing me.
[Dark shadows flicker around him, forming thick chains to wrap around his throat and waist. He still smiles at her, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes.]
I understand what it is like to start losing yourself.
[Colette closed her mouth and glanced at the ground, wringing her hands.
So that was what Nagito had meant when he said that he said that his experiences helped him understand what she was going through. And it made sense, considering that he did not look like the state of perfect health. ]
I see......I'm so sorry, Nagito.
[As to how his luck was killing him exactly, Colette wasn't too sure besides what she could tell from his appearance and change of voice. But what a horrible thing to go through, if his luck has caused this. And going through the stress of trying to cure her too probably didn't help. In Colette's mind, that is.]
[Why do people respond before he's finished talking? It tends to happen a lot. Nagito stares down into the bowl of water and holds his hand above the surface. Faint ripples appear as if a stone were dropped in the middle.]
I'm not sad about it. It has given me an interesting perspective! Knowing how fleeting life is...the colors of the world are brighter, don't you think? Even annoyingly windy days are something special. It doesn't matter when it rains, because you know one day soon you'll be part of that voice of the world.
But you and I, won't be joining the dust so soon.
[A ball of water the size of a marble rises from the water's surface. He lifts his hands, cupping them beneath it.]
As long as there is a chance, people can score a victory even at the edge of the abyss. Despite the darkness. There is a light that shines on! Sometimes because of that despair, the hope will burn hotter. I used to think it took despair to make that happen. Mm, that hope was an absolute!
I still believe in it. But I think hope is less tangible, and exists even when all lights fade. As long as we're alive, there is still that fleeting spark! I have full confidence in that! Lloyd saved you once. And...I am working on my own cure. So those who believe in me won't have to see me die in such a horrible way. As long as we don't give up, you and I won't fall to our conditions.
[Colette pauses, looking thoughtful. After a minute or so, she then smiles.]
I think I know what you mean.
When your life is cut short, you don’t quite understand what it means at first. But the friends you make and all the things that happen to you, no matter how mundane, soon have a completely different meaning. They all make you realize how wonderful and precious life is! Every day counts. I’m glad I’ve been born into Sylvarant. Meeting Lloyd and all my friends. They made me live my life to the fullest possible.
Oh, and I’m glad that I came here and met you too. And Roxas, Athena, Rose Quartz and all the others. Until I return to Sylvarant, I’m going to help protect all of you here too.
[And it’s possible that when she gets back, she won’t die. In her future, according to Lloyd, both of them were trying to find another way to save Sylvarant without her sacrificing herself. It was still an idea she was trying to get used to. A life after Sylvarant and doing things she never thought of doing. What if something went wrong? What if she couldn’t find a way? Would people suffer? And would they hate her?
However, there was the fact that Lloyd tried to save her in the future. He cared about her so much and he was willing to do anything to stop her from dying. And that made her happy.
Colette suddenly clasps her hands together, her eyes shining.]
Hey, Nagito. I have an idea. When we are both cured, let’s have a big party and invite all our friends, okay? With a gigantic strawberry cake! It would be a fantastic way to celebrate, don’t you think?

Nothing else, that will do. I'll see you then.
Nagito Komaeda
Aaaaand action!
It looks really heavy but she doesn't look like she's in discomfort at all. Just her cheery, smiley self.]

[How sad. At this rate, she will never achieve her Dunami dream of making trees with cute dogs growing out of them. :(
Anyway, she follows him to the spot.]
You mean like into ice or gas?

Maybe start with manipulating the elements?

But you're right. I should start with that.
[And she places the bowl where he tells her.]
This is going to be fun!
[Except there will probably be a lot of screw-ups too. Because she's a klutz.]
