[He blinks. That hasn't been a question he expected. He crosses his arms over his chest and considers how to word it.] By not being sick anymore and learning from a capable teacher.

I've lived in this city for three years. Trained with my teacher for two. I keep up with the exercises and spar with Hajime at least once a day. This is the kind of place where sometimes you have to fight to protect yourself or other people.

[ That's... definitely an interesting question that Owari asked, but it's not something that Hinata couldn't have predicted as he finds himself laughing just a little bit under his breath. ]

Yeah, out of all of our classmates, Nagito's probably been here the longest so he's the best person to go to when it comes to explaining things.

[ Huh. On the plus side, Komaeda doesn't look weak enough to be pulled apart like a Twizzler anymore. ]

As far as we can tell for now, the way back is a mystery. This world has a mind of its own. It pulls people here in a bid to save itself. That's the most crediable theory at present.

...Actually it's getting closer to four years for me. I consider this world my home for however long I'm going to be here. [He gestures to the house about them. Books, scrolls, and maps litter the work desk he rests on the edge of.]

As for me, it's been about a year since I've been here. Even I don't know the way back and I... actually went back temporarily, once.

We're saving it? This place? [ a headtilt. ] Whoever's summoning us here, it sure is doin' a bang-up job choosing the right people for the job.

[ like yeah summon a bunch of highschooler who ruined the world just fucking do it ]

Does this mean we're kinda like in purgatory? Since Komaeda died and then stayed here for a couple years, then Hinata followed, and then somehow everyone is now alive back at our world, and...

[He blinks. Komaeda glances to Hinata and holds up a finger.] Tell me, Owari-san. What's the last thing you were doing before you woke up here?

It's important to know before I answer. I don't want to confuse you.

[ While Hinata actually can pinpoint the answer to this question, he decides to instead not say anything; not wanting to add to the confusion on either of their parts so he just nods quietly at the glance and allows Owari to answer. ]

[ She crosses her arms, closing her eyes in deep thought. ]

It's when we decided that the last of us are gonna continue staying on the island. Hoping that the others will wake up soon. That's why I don't get how you're alive and how Hinata has weird eyes now.

[ Yeah, gotta point that one out. ]

None of us were dead. I don't know the details yet, we all come from different points in time. That's an unfortunate problem of this world.

But, when he returned from temporarily being back home. Hajime told me he saved all of us. [He doesn't glance at him this time but, the sentiment is there.]

This isn't purgatory. Think of it like another building on the street across from the one we lived in and will go back to.

Yeah, I... actually woke up everyone immediately after we spoke to Naegi and the others.

[ That's all he has to say, to be honest. ] But Nagito's right; none of the ones who died in the program were actually dead. Everyone was in a coma, which I woke everyone up from.

[ She's so slow in the uptake, please forgive her. ]

[Komaeda shrugs and looks towards Hinata. This is your cue, fearless leader.]

[ Hinata looks back at Komaeda with narrowed eyes for a second, almost a silent, exaggerated really? without having to say it before he looks again at Owari, laughing a little bit sheepishly. He gets why he has to be the one to give the explanation, however. He's the only one that knows. ]

Well, you really don't have to thank me for that... [ He does, however, appreciate it. And it shows in the warmth of the air like a sweet summer breeze. ] Anyway, after that, we went on a boat to the Future Foundation headquarters. Jabberwock was being attacked by them, so we had to leave as soon as possible. We then stopped Mitarai--

[ He pauses mid-sentence, realizing that he'll have to explain who that person is. ] Ah, to be more specific. He's one of our classmates. He's the Ultimate Animator, but he's a Future Foundation member, not a member of Ultimate Despair.

[ Just to clarify on that one point. ]

We stopped Mitarai from using his brainwashing video across the world to create 'hope' in everyone. And then, we took him in with us on the boat and took responsibility for the Future Foundation killing game, even though we didn't orchestrate it. And that's it. [ Okay, now she regrets asking for more info, because Hinata just had to introduce another character into the mix. They had a classmate named Mitarai that Akane's not even aware of? Who's part of the Future Foundation? And with the brainwashing video and --

[ He's not looking at his fiancé directly in the eye, if only because this topic is still slightly embarrassing to talk about, especially with one of his classmates. ]

On both accounts. And I'd rather not talk about the story... you'll probably fall asleep by the middle of it all.

[ Oh. Oh my. ]

As in... y-you guys are gonna get married?!

[ There's no other word for it: she is utterly shocked. They got engaged? They got engaged. They probably had a ring and everything. What the hell. ]

Like... w-with a wedding cake with small versions of you two on it?
