[Between Lloyd, Hizumi, Colette, and Hinata it had been too much. For days only people he worked with saw anything of him and only enough for his shifts. He went through the motions of living and plastered all masks in place. Until Hinata's voice jolts him out of the research he'd been doing about changes to the island.

At first there is no reply. Then text appears.]

I hear you. Why are you apologizing? It's not like you told lies.

[He considers taking off his crystal but Hinata came to him to talk. Besides it really isn't like Hinata told lies.]

But I was [ a jerk ] a huge asshole about it, so I wanted to apologize for that much.

By the way, while I have you. . . I was wondering if you help me out with something sometime next week. On Thursday. I keep trying to get rid of these stuffed Monokumas from my apartment but they just keep showing up. I'd do it today, but-- I want to give you some space for a bit. There's other things that I want to talk about in person on that day, then. You don't mind waiting, do you?

[Faintly like someone stirring up dust, unease filters through. He doesn't know why but he just doesn't want to deal with any of this. Well, more like he knows why but dealing with emotional pain is one of his problems. He can't do it well. It's lucky for Hinata he's so out of sorts he doesn't consider the date in numbers.] I am off that day. What do you usually feel just before the dolls return?

Anyway, Let's just agree it was terrible day and not dwell on it. [He'd had an apathy episode in front of Hinata after a very stressful conversation and proceeded to not give anything close to a care.] To be honest, it wasn't just you I've been avoiding since then.

[At least he didn't lie or dodge answering. There's that at least.]

That's good. [ It sounds like Komaeda hasn't noticed it, which is a relief. Good news, saddled with the bad. At the very least, it gets Hinata to stop thinking about certain things. ]

It might have something to do with frustration.

[ Just.... not going to say anything about the rest of that. ]

What usually happens when you're frustrated? Aside from the dolls. Any distortions in the environment? [He shoves all the other business aside to focus in Hinata's problem. It helps his rattled mind settle a tad more. The fact Hinata had apologized at all is confusing as much as it sparks a warmth inside him.

He pauses. Then his voice replaces text in the mental communication.] I've noticed emotional manifestations seem different in the home compared to out on the street. It might be the same for you.

Not... that I've noticed, no. [ Really, he's using this as an excuse to invite Komaeda to his own party. Although he seems to be a lot better at hiding his feelings now. ]

It might just be that the place is trying to replicate the islands more whenever I'm frustrated.

That's very possible. You yourself are a channel of energy that affects your surroundings. It could be it manifests like that because that was a time you were the most frustrated. But only you could answer that clearly. [Paper rustles like dry leaves, Komaeda has been working and now he returns to it. People demand answers when the world goes insane.]

It's difficult for me to say if that hypothesis is right or not. All I know of having a home is here. The distortions my home goes through are very different.

I think that's the case, too. [ Truthfully, he already knew all of this. It was confirmed further after he obtained that apathy, but that was mostly due to Kamukura Izuru's influence, his memories. And he hates it. ]

But maybe we can talk about the distortions your home goes through and see if that's really the case.

[There's another pause, longer than the first. He still doesn't want to talk. In fact, this would be the moment where he considers cutting it here. Instead he says.]

At the start, before I found anything close to balance - there was hardly a straight line in my house. Most things twisted, or becomes uneven. The floor slanted at seemingly random. Doors and rooms moved about. Or functioned differently. Since I have Raijin much of that has changed and over time - entirely different effects appeared.

[ That's interesting to note, at least. ]

What kind of effects appear now?

The floor changes what type of wood it is, depending on my mood. Unless I'm controlling the energy we all give off. Then it's just a house. Ah, anyway. The walls change type and texture. Never disturbs the books and sometimes the couch becomes a futon or something like that.

Mostly it's all just aethestics but I have noticed the stove will randomly be a wood stove or something else. Since I cheat and make my tea with Dunamis anyway, it can do whatever. Like I care.

[It's interesting. He's never bored by the house changes.] But I would like to know what possessed it once to make the bathroom spaciually bigger and change the shower to glass brick...
